Jon Stewart’s response to Elon Musk’s First Amendment: “Guns don’t protect our free speech”

Jon Stewart was back Daily show last night to recount the “October surprises” that could affect the upcoming presidential election. The late-night host noted that anything is possible, but it probably won’t be good, like Notorious Access to Hollywood bar.

“Why are October Surprises always so rubbish?” he said Why do we never get a nice October surprise that brings our country together? He added that for some reason these revelations or last-minute events seem to benefit the Republicans rather than the Democrats.

“If monkey pox breaks, I don’t see how we lost!” Stewart joked. “Indeed, what does it say about a party that a war, a strike, and a natural disaster work in their favor? “Sir, the election is close, but if we can shock and disappoint the crowd, we can do it.”

The biggest October surprise so far for Stewart has been Elon Musk’s appearance at Donald Trump’s rally over the weekend. “His surprise in October is that he’s out of MAGA,” Stewart said before showing a clip of Musk as a self-proclaimed “dark maga.”

“Oh, Dark Maga,” Stewart replied. “I didn’t know it came in a flavor! I don’t know if they come out for the holidays with MAGA peppermint bark. Or pumpkin spice MAGA.”

“Now, you might think one of the world’s richest men controlling one of the world’s most influential platforms would be a recipe for what some might consider election meddling,” he added. You stupid people, stupid. You hate me meddling in elections is what Mark Zuckerberg did.

The host recalled the 2016 and 2020 elections, when it was Trump who accused Zuckerberg of meddling in the election. He then pointed to the double standard that Musk offers his supporters money to register state voters. Trump apparently does not consider Musk’s behavior to be meddling. But you know what does? Sebastian Stan’s new biography student.

“Oh, come on! Is this election meddling?” “Maybe it’s election interference, but you have to be a little flattered that Sebastian Stan is playing you,” Stewart said.

After recounting Trump’s various claims of meddling in the election, Stewart played a clip of Musk saying the left wants to destroy free speech.

“Ilan, weren’t you watching the rest of the show?” Stewart replied. A movie that Trump doesn’t like will be sued. A tech giant who doesn’t like him wants to imprison him. It’s not free speech if only Trump supporters do it without consequences. It doesn’t work like that. It doesn’t happen like that. I don’t see how her support for free speech qualifies as “baring her belly.” I just don’t have it.”

He then played another clip of Musk saying, “But at least the Constitution remains intact and is there to make sure we have the First Amendment. “The Second Amendment is there to make sure we have the First Amendment.”

“Guns don’t protect our freedom of speech,” Stewart responded. “Our freedom of speech is protected by sovereign consent as enshrined in the Constitution. It is not based on threats of violence. It is based on elections, the organization of referendums, a judicial system. Our social contract provides many ways to resolve these issues, allowing the parties to be heard and judged. “From what I can tell, guns mostly seem to protect the speech of the people with the guns.”

“It’s a tool of intimidation and I think it’s actually being used irresponsibly and recklessly,” the presenter continued. Because some people in your crowd thought they might have been banned by Facebook. I mean, for God’s sake, you guys are in Butler, Pennsylvania. The whole reason you’re there is because some goddamn idiot with an AR-15 tried to forever challenge your view of free speech in this country. That’s why you’re there. The whole point of a society is one where guns don’t decide. “I’d rather not trade right now with a government that offers so many solutions to my concerns, legitimate or illegitimate, for a situation where my salary is determined by the number of militia members who agree with me.”
